The San Diego Symphony recently unveiled one of Southern California’s most exciting beach destinations: The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park. As the first permanent waterfront concert hall on the West Coast and the country’s first bayfront concert hall to be operated by a symphony orchestra, The Rady Shell offers an unparalleled outdoor concert experience. .

3.7-acre central park and event venue developed and managed by the San Diego Symphony on the city’s scenic Embarcadero, The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park is the first permanent outdoor venue in the orchestra’s century-old history. Designed to host over 100 concerts and events throughout the year while providing 360-degree views of the downtown area, marina and bay, the project was developed in partnership with the Unified Port of San Diego .

As innovative in design as spectacular in setting, offering year round 360 degree music, sky and sea, The Rady Shell is an unprecedented resource for the Symphony’s expanded program of various outdoor concerts scheduled by musical director Rafael Payare, including an exciting roster of commissioned works and premieres, as well as performances by internationally touring artists and free programs, and will be available year round for community nonprofit groups, schools and individuals. The Jacobs Park, owned and managed by the Symphony, will surround this location with walkways, dining pavilions and recreational facilities in the heart of the Embarcadero and will be accessible to the public free of charge most days of the year.

Located on scenic San Diego Bay, the Rady Shell offers stunning views of the downtown skyline and historic Coronado Island. The venue also features cutting-edge acoustics and technology and a solid food and drink lineup, with selections from celebrity chef Richard Blais and local favorites Biga, Lola55, Urban Kitchen and more. The place also serves as a public park 85% of the year, making it a must-see for San Diego residents and tourists alike.

The Symphony has lined up over 40 acts, ranging from classical to Latin, jazz, pop, as well as movies, Broadway and more.
