MENLO PARK, CA (CelebrityAccess) – The historic Guild Theater in Menlo Park has just completed its conversion to a live events venue and has announced plans to open to the public on January 18 with a performance of the band from indie rock based in OR STRFKR.

Once the theater is operational, it will host an ongoing series of live entertainment events, comprising multiple genres of music and featuring new and established artists.

“We are delighted to see the project finally come to fruition,” said Peninsula Arts Guild President Drew Dunlevie. “We started the association four years ago for the simple purpose of bringing entertainment and culture to a very underserved market here on the peninsula. We are also very eager to support the philanthropic efforts of many artists. We like to say that we solve for fun and good.

Located at 949 El Camino Real in Menlo Park, Calif., The theater, which opened in 1926 as one of the area’s first cinemas, has survived as a one-screen arthouse cinema until in 2019, when it was purchased by investors for redevelopment into a non-profit concert hall.

Now operated by the Peninsula Arts Guild, the new Guild Theater includes a Meyer Sound system – specially designed for the venue by Meyer Sound’s own engineers and acclaimed audio designer David Vincent (Metallica, Cirque du Soleil, Montreal Jazzfest) – as well as ‘a cinema surround sound system.

The operations team includes General Manager Tom Bailey, who was previously General Manager of the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, New York.

“It is an honor and a privilege to work with the talented people of the Peninsula Arts Guild to bring high quality entertainment to Silicon Valley and central San Francisco Peninsula,” said Tom Bailey, Managing Director of Guild Theater. “The Guild Theater will be a premier venue in every way, from cutting edge sound and lights to a unique, stylish and spacious ‘green room’ setup for our talent, to premium drink options (at prices reasonable!) for our guests We intend to make Menlo Park a nightlife destination with great live music, and hope to become the cornerstone of this movement.

As part of the planning for the opening, the Guild has entered into an agreement with the Dice music discovery and ticketing platform.

“DICE is thrilled to partner with the Guild Theater, which is fast becoming an incredible live event space in Menlo Park,” said Russ Tannen, President of DICE. “Viewing a show at The Guild will always be a transparent and fair process for the fan and the artist.”
