Bay Area Movie House to reopen as concert venue

Initial schedule announced for the Guild Theater; first show on January 18

The independent Guild Theater in Menlo Park, Calif., Will open as a state-of-the-art concert venue on January 18 with its first concert, conducted by Portland, Oregon, alt-rockers Strfkr. The theater is operated by the non-profit Peninsula Arts Guild, which has established an exclusive ticketing partnership with the Dice ticketing platform.

“We are delighted to see the project finally come to fruition,” said Peninsula Arts Guild President Drew Dunlevie. “We started the association four years ago for the simple purpose of bringing entertainment and culture to an underserved market here in the center of the peninsula. The newly renovated music and events space has a capacity of just over 500 people and will offer a diverse program of events ranging from rock and soul to Americana, jazz and world music. , with both local and world famous artists.

The Guild Theater was one of the last single-screen theaters in the area, closing in 2019 after nearly 93 years of operation. The new venue will feature a full cinema surround sound system and sound created especially for the venue by Meyer Sound and renowned sound engineer David Vincent, who has worked with Metallica, Cirque du Soleil and Montreal. Jazzfest. Some of the industry veterans who will run the venue will include general manager Tom Bailey, who held a similar position at the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, New York.
